Training and Experience

Antonia Nelson is a Wisconsin Licensed and Nationally Certified Massage Therapist. For more than 25 years, she has been specializing in the John F. Barnes Myofascial Release Approach, having begun by working at his Therapy On The Rocks, western myofascial release treatment center in Sedona, Arizona for 2 years.

Antonia began practicing with sister, Dr. Melissa V. Nelson at her Holistic Chiropractic Center in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin. She learned about nutrition, chiropractic and healing. It was a vital stepping stone which led Antonia to a career in massage therapy in the 1980s. She studied at the Boulder School of Massage Therapy in Boulder, Colorado. After returning to Door County, Wisconsin, she opened up a private practice and also continued to see clients at her sister’s clinic in Sturgeon Bay.

Areas of special interest to Antonia include chronic/acute pain conditions, body/mind conditions along with PTSD and working with Veterans and those experiencing these symptoms. She brings a blend of techniques that address the physical, mental, and emotional health and wellbeing of all her clients. Her ongoing plan is to continue learning, taking ongoing courses in support of her own skills and personal growth, on order to bring excellent care to her clients.

Antonia has worked in a variety of settings, her private practice, Holistic Chiropractic Office, Physical Therapy Clinic, Massage School, Myofascial Treatment Center, The Center for Veterans Issues, and she also speaks to groups and businesses around the issues of Stress Resolution, Trauma Resolution, and Health and Wellness.

Education is important to Antonia as she recognizes the importance of teaching her clients about Myofascial Release Therapy, the principles behind it, why it is so effective and how set up home self-care programs so that her clients may continue the healing process.

In addition, Antonia brings Coaching to her clients as a way to assist others in gaining an understanding and appreciation of their bodies, their lives, families and communities. Helping people transition out of pain and dis-ease into an increased ability to feel good and lead a happy, healthy and fully engaged life is her mission.
